About Michael

What started with a friend's recommendation in 2019 has grown into a six-year passion that bridges my Oregon upbringing with my current life in Arizona. I picked up a used Sony a6000 and some basic lenses, then took my first solo photo trip to Sedona based on that friend's suggestion. Capturing my first grand landscape among those red rock formations was the moment I knew I was hooked. Since then, landscape photography has become my favorite escape from desk work. Living in Arizona gives me easy access to incredible spots like Zion and the Grand Canyon, while regular road trips back to Oregon let me explore the diverse beauty between the desert Southwest and Pacific Northwest.

I enjoy working across different scales—sometimes capturing sweeping vistas that show nature's grand scale, other times focusing on intimate macro details that reveal the smaller stories within these landscapes. Whether it's a weekend trip to a nearby national park or a longer journey along the Arizona-Oregon route, each outing offers a chance to disconnect and rediscover what draws me to these places.

Through my photography, I aim to share the sense of freedom and renewal that these landscapes provide, hoping others might find their own connection to the natural spaces that surround us.
